Know your enemy (I)
Hurries aren't good. Never. After weeks of revisions and changes, I had the first volume of "The Factory of Gods" ready to be published on Amazon. The feeling of relief and pride compensated the work of the last few days. It should be online in a matter of hours. That's what I thought. It took me three more weeks to release it. The great lesson I learned is that you have to know your"enemy", you have to know him well. And it's not that I consider Amazon KDP the enermy, nothing could be further from the truth, they offer an impressive service. But when you get to the point that you're ready to publish, anything that slows you down is going to be considered an enemy, even if you are the only one guilty of the delay. I didn't know the "enemy" well enough. Amazon has its deadlines, different for ebook and paper editions. It has its rules and conditions, that a book has to meet in order to be published. Even if you do everything right the first time, it can take up to 5 days for the book to be online. All detailed deadlines can be found here.
